 Dog Training Services in Pleasantville, PA

Hilltop Dog Training, located in Pleasantville, PA, is led by Randy and Debbie Locke. Randy and Debbie have several training certifications, including Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen (AKC CGC) Approved Evaluator, and Alliance of Therapy Dogs (ATD) Tester/Observer.

Training classes are held at the Shamburg Church Recreation Hall (located behind the church) at 15995 Rouseville Road, Pleasantville, PA 16341. Classes generally take place on Tuesday and Thursdays from 6:00 - 8:00pm.

  • Hilltop Dog Training offers both Private and Group classes. Classes include:

    • AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy

    • Basic Obedience Training

    • Advanced Obedience Training

    • Off Leash Training*

    • Therapy Dog Training

    *Off Leash Training requires graduation from both Basic and Advanced Obedience Programs.

  • Each program consists of 6 training sessions, with the 6th session being a Graduation day as well as an opportunity to test for a title, if applicable.

    Each 6 week program costs $50. Payment for the program will be made on the first night of the course. We accept both cash and checks.

    There are no refunds for classes missed during the program. However, if we have to cancel a class for any reason, we will make that session up for the entire group.

  • Preparing for a successful training program is very important. You will need to bring your most recent vet record to the first class in the program. If you have a puppy, having your first set of shots is sufficient. A history of medical records and required vaccinations is required.

    Controlling your dog on a leash is part of many of our programs. Please bring a 4 foot leash or shorter.

    Using high value treats is a great way to reward your dog for successful training. Please bring treats that your dog will see as special treats and not the same treats that you give on a daily basis. This will help your pet quickly make the connection between a good behavior and a high value reward.

  • Private lessons are available on an individual basis. The cost of each session will be determined based on a variety of factors, such as distance traveled, duration of session, and the amount of sessions you would like to host.

    Sessions are generally hosted in your home, as this allows our trainers to evaluate the behavior of the dog in its regular environment and help address the training need more efficiently.

  • In conjunction with training courses, Hilltop Dog Training offers testing for various certifications, including:

    • AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy

    • AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC)

    • AKC Urban Canine Good Citizen (Urban CGC)

    • AKC Community Canine (Advanced CGC)

    • Alliance of Therapy Dog
